Prayer Against Hardness of Heart
"Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, so they would not hear the law and the words that the Lord of Armies had sent by his Spirit."
Zechariah 7:12
Lord, there is a hardness sitting on my husband that I cannot reach, and I am asking You to break it. Zechariah 7:12 says they made their hearts as hard as flint so they would not hear the words the Lord sent — and that is exactly what has happened in my house. He is not hearing You, and he is not hearing anybody who loves him. Hebrews 3:15 says, 'Today, if you will hear his voice, don't harden your hearts,' and I am praying that today would be the day that voice finally gets through. Ephesians 4:18 says they are alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance in them and the hardening of their hearts. So I am standing against every hard place the enemy has built up in that man, and I command it to break in the name of Jesus.
Do the surgery only You can do. Deuteronomy 30:6 says the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your children, to love the Lord your God with all your heart. Cut away every hard thing in him, God, and let love come back into that place. Jeremiah 4:3 says break up your fallow ground and do not sow among thorns — every field in his heart that has gone hard and unused, plow it up. Isaiah 63:17 asks, 'Lord, why do you make us wander from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake.' So I am asking You to return to him, Lord, even while he is still in the middle of it. And keep my own heart soft too. Do not let me get hard waiting on him to get soft. In Jesus' name, amen.
Declarations
I decree that every stone in his heart is coming out, because Job 23:16 says God has made my heart faint, and the Almighty has terrified me — God knows how to trouble a man until he softens. Psalm 95:8 says, 'Don't harden your heart, as at Meribah.' Acts 16:14 says the Lord opened Lydia's heart so she paid attention to what was spoken — so I decree the Lord is opening my husband's heart to pay attention to truth again. What man cannot soften, God can split wide open.
I speak hearing back into him, because Mark 8:17-18 says, 'Don't you perceive yet or understand? Is your heart still hardened? Having eyes, don't you see? Having ears, don't you hear?' Isaiah 50:5 says the Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious and did not turn back. I speak that his ear is opening and his rebellion is ending. 1 Kings 8:58 says that He may turn our hearts to himself, to walk in all his ways. I speak that his heart is being turned back toward God today.
I come into agreement with Jeremiah 31:33, which says, 'I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.' What God writes on the inside of a man, no woman and no season can erase. Hebrews 8:10 repeats that same covenant — God is still writing on hearts. I come into agreement that the law of God is being written back into the inward parts of my husband where I cannot see it happening.
I declare revival over that dry place, because Isaiah 57:15 says God dwells with the one who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite. 2 Corinthians 3:16 says whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away — the moment he turns, the veil goes. Lamentations 3:22-23 says it is because of the Lord's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies never fail; they are new every morning. I declare that God's mercy is meeting my husband new every single morning, whether he knows it or not.
