Prayer for Justice
"Won't God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he is patient with them? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly."
Luke 18:7-8
God, I have been carrying something nobody else saw, and today I am bringing it to the only Judge who cannot be lied to. Luke 18:7-8 says, 'Won't God avenge his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly.' I am one of those crying day and night, and I am asking You to answer me. Psalm 43:1 says, 'Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. Deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.' I am not asking to be right. I am asking to be defended by somebody stronger than me. Proverbs 22:22-23 says do not exploit the poor or crush the needy in court, for the Lord will plead their case and will take the life of those who take from them. So plead my cause, Lord, because I have run out of words to defend myself with.
But search me while You judge, because I do not want to win an argument and lose my soul. Romans 12:17 says repay no one evil for evil, and Deuteronomy 32:35 says vengeance and recompense belong to God. So I am taking my hands off the payback and putting it in Yours. Psalm 37:6 says He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn and your justice like the noonday sun — so let every hidden thing come into the light on Your timetable, not mine. Psalm 9:9 says the Lord will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble, and that is where I am living right now. Isaiah 61:7 says instead of your shame you will have double, and instead of dishonor you will rejoice in your portion. So I am asking You for the double, Lord, and I am trusting You to settle every account. In Jesus' name, amen.
Declarations
I decree restitution over everything that was taken from me, because Proverbs 6:31 says if a thief is found, he must restore seven times what he took, even giving all the substance of his house. Zechariah 9:12 says, 'Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.' I am a prisoner of hope and I am decreeing the double. Joel 2:26 says you will eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God who has dealt wondrously with you — and my people will never again be put to shame.
I speak to every accuser and every liar, because Psalm 35:1 says, 'Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.' Psalm 94:1-2 says, 'Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine out! Rise up, judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve.' I speak that God is standing up in my situation right now. Isaiah 49:25 says, 'I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.'
I come into agreement with Psalm 37:5-6, which says commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will act. Micah 7:8-9 says, 'Don't rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. He will bring me out to the light, and I will see his righteousness.' I come into agreement that this darkness is temporary and the light is already scheduled. Whatever it looks like right now is not the ending.
I declare that God is for me, because Romans 8:31 says if God is for us, who can be against us? Hebrews 10:30 says vengeance belongs to God and He will repay — and the Lord does not miss. 1 Peter 5:10 says the God of all grace, after you have suffered a little while, will himself perfect you, establish you, strengthen you, and settle you. I declare that my suffering has an expiration date and my settling is on the other side of it.
