Prayer for God to Restore the Love
"But I have this against you, that you left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works."
Revelation 2:4-5
God, something in us died, and I am asking You to raise it. Revelation 2:4-5 says, 'You left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works.' So I am asking You to make my husband remember. Make him remember who we were before all of this. Romans 5:5 says the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us — so pour Your love into a heart that has run dry, because human love is not enough to fix what happened here. Jeremiah 31:3 says, 'I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.' Draw him with that kind of love, Lord. The kind that does not quit.
And restore what feeling could not hold. Hosea 2:14 says, 'Behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.' Take my husband into a wilderness if that is what it takes, and speak to him where there is nothing else to listen to. Song of Solomon 8:7 says many waters cannot quench love, and floods cannot drown it — so I am declaring that what we have been through has not drowned what You put in us. 1 Corinthians 13:8 says love never fails. Love does not fail, God. People fail, and love is still standing. 1 John 4:19 says we love him because he first loved us, so love us both back into the ability to love each other again. Start with me if You need to. In Jesus' name, amen.
Declarations
I decree that this love is being rebuilt, because Jeremiah 31:4 says, 'I will build you again, and you will be built.' Again — He says it twice in one sentence. Hosea 2:19 says, 'I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion.' I decree that God is betrothing us back to Himself and back to each other.
I speak love where there is numbness, because Galatians 5:22 says the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faith. Every one of those is missing in my house right now, and every one of those is fruit the Spirit produces. 1 John 4:18 says there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. I speak that fear is being cast out of my marriage and love is taking the room back.
I come into agreement with 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which says love is patient and kind, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Colossians 3:19 says husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them — I am agreeing with that command over my husband's life. Proverbs 5:18-19 says let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. I come into agreement that his eyes and his affection are coming back home.
I declare that God still rejoices over us, because Zephaniah 3:17 says the Lord your God is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Isaiah 62:4-5 says you will no longer be called Forsaken, and your land will no longer be called Desolate — but you will be called Hephzibah, which means My Delight Is In Her, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God will rejoice over you. I declare that my house is not called Desolate anymore.
