Prayer for His Repentance
"I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart."
Jeremiah 24:7
Lord, I am bringing my husband before You, and I am not coming with a list of what he has done — I am coming with what You said You would do. In Jeremiah 24:7 You said You will give them a heart to know You, and that they will return to You with their whole heart, so I am asking You for that heart on his behalf right now. Give him a new heart and a new mind, God. Ezekiel 11:19 says You will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, and I am asking You to do that surgery in him — take out whatever has hardened in that man and put something soft and living back in its place. 2 Timothy 2:25 says that perhaps God will grant them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, and that is exactly what I am asking for. Not an apology to keep the peace. Real repentance that only You can give.
And I am asking You to open his eyes. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so the light of the Good News cannot dawn on them, and I am standing against every blindness operating over my husband's mind right now. I command that veil to lift in Jesus' name. The next chapter over, 2 Timothy 2:26 says they may escape out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will — and I decree that my husband is coming out of that snare and his will is being handed back to him. In Luke 15:17 the prodigal son 'came to himself,' and that is the moment I am praying over my husband — that he would wake up in the middle of what he is doing and come back to who he really is. Draw him, Lord. John 6:44 says no one can come unless the Father draws him, so draw him with a hand he cannot shake off, until Hosea 3:5 is fulfilled in my house and he returns and seeks the Lord his God. In Jesus' name, amen.
Declarations
I decree that my husband's heart is in the hand of the Lord, because Proverbs 21:1 says the king's heart is in the Lord's hand like a stream of water — He turns it wherever He wishes. If God can turn a king, He can turn my husband. Psalm 107:20 says He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction, so I decree the word of God is going after him right now. Ezra 6:22 says the Lord turned the heart of the king toward His people, and I decree that same turning is happening in my home.
I speak scales off of his eyes, the way Acts 9:18 says something like scales fell from Saul's eyes and he received his sight immediately. The same God who stopped a man on the road to Damascus in the middle of his rebellion can stop my husband right where he stands. Acts 26:18 says God sends His own to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. I speak that every dark thing over his understanding is losing its grip today.
I come into agreement with Romans 2:4, which says the goodness of God leads you to repentance — so I am asking God to overwhelm my husband with a goodness he cannot explain and cannot outrun. Isaiah 45:2 says, 'I will go before you and make the rough places smooth. I will break the doors of bronze in pieces and cut apart the bars of iron.' Every bronze door in that man's heart, God is breaking it. I come into agreement that nothing he built to keep God out is going to hold.
I declare that what is hidden is coming to light, because Luke 8:17 says nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing is secret that will not be known and come to light. Numbers 32:23 says be sure your sin will find you out — not to destroy him, but to free him. Job 22:29 says when others are cast down, you will say, 'Be lifted up,' and He will save the humble person. I declare that God is humbling my husband in order to save him, and I am praying mercy over him the whole way down.
